STREETCAR STROLL: AUGUST

Once a month, Noel Prows organizes a group to walk the route of the Cincinnati Streetcar to view and document the development of light rail in the Queen City. During our previous strolls, we saw the progress of construction taking place in Over The Rhine and initial utility relocation in the Central Business District. On our August tour, the most noticeable construction had shifted to Downtown, with road work also continuing along 12th Street and Elm Street in Over The Rhine.

We also came upon several redevelopment projects taking place along the streetcar route. The most impressive were the Elm Street Townhomes which are currently no more than a gutted building with collapsed roof. Each of the units have already been sold, months prior to any renovations on the structure. Across the street, a senior living center is being erected as independent housing for elderly adults. These developments are a representation of how the Cincinnati Streetcar is improving the area around its route.
